Origin of Ysmen Movement:
Y’s Men International was founded by Judge Paul William Alexander in the year 1922 at a place called Ohio in Toledo City in USA.
The first overseas club was started in China in the year 1924. It took its roots in Australia in 1926 in the United Kingdom in 1928 and in Sri lanka in 1931. The first Club in India was chartered in 1940 as Madras Esplanade and the 2nd Club Bangalore Y’s Men’s Club was Chartered in Bangalore in 1942. The movement gradually spread to 70 countries with a membership of around 30,000 plus. |

The Early Leaders In India:
The International Board granted Regional Status to India-Ceylon in 1946 and appointed Bhasker Jesu Priya of Bangalore as the 1st International Director. In those days Regional Directors were called as International Director and were apointed by the International Board. The following personalities headed the organization till 1973-74.

In the year 1974 the India-Ceylon Region was bifurcated into two separate Regions as India Region and Ceylon Region with effect from 1st July 1974. Justice M. U. Issac, Ernakulam as the 1st Regional Director of India Region followed by Dr. B. Rama Rao, Madras, 75-76, Justice P Subramani Poti, Ernakulam, 76-77 S. Sunder Rao, Hyderabad,77-78 Dr. P. Sukumaran Trivandrum 78-79 and Narayana Swamy, Madurai 79-80
On July 1st 1980 India Region was divided into three Regions with Central India, South India and West India Region. Our Region came into existence on 1st July 1980 and we have a history of 25 years in Y’sdom movement. July 1st 1983 was a red-letter day in the history of Y’s Men international, when India Area came into existence officially with ICM Dr. P. Sukumaran as the first Area president. Two of our past Regional director were elevated to the post of Area president Dr. Rama Rao and Dr. K. C. G Verghese. The Other Regional Directors are as follows.
